Our tour begins with the pick up from the hotel from 4:30 to 5:00 a.m., and then we go to the town of Yananpampa and have breakfast (approx. 2 hours). Arriving at this small and picturesque town, we will have free time to use the restrooms, buy hydrating drinks and snacks. Then we will continue our trip for an additional 1.30 minutes to the starting point of the walk, the community of Santa Lucia (3800 masl).
The adventure begins with an impressive view of the Apurimac Canyon and, in turn, some rock formations that will indicate that we are already close to the Waqrapucara. After an introduction by our guide, we will begin our walk. During this walk we will be able to appreciate a large amount of flora and fauna typical of the area until we reach our destination.
After the visit to Waqrapucara we will begin with the return to the beginning of the walk where we will have lunch and the mobility will be for our return to Cusco.
End of Service.
To get to the wonder of Waqrapukara, it is best to leave Cusco, as there are three entrances.
The first access to Waqrapukara begins from Acomayo following the Huáscar branch to the peasant community of Huayqui. By a bridle path.
The second access to Waqrapukara starts from Sangarará following a mule track.
The third route passes through the peasant community of Huáscar, through a bridle path. Finally, the site can be accessed from the peasant community of Chosecani, following the footprint of a pre-Hispanic path.
The best season to visit the Cordillera de Colores is in the Dry Season, between the months of April – October, because in the rainy season the canyon cannot be seen because it is covered with clouds, in addition to the fact that the route is more complicated.
